Dr. Lawrence Davenport, Alabama’s A & M And Rhode Island’s Times2

I have not yet spoken to Dr. Davenport, but I saw him in the Times2 building today ( in the library with faculty where they had a Welcome Breakfast).

If you do a simple search on the Internet, you learn many things.

Here is a link to an article about Dr. Davenport’s candidacy for the President of A&M in Alabama.  That article is dated February 3, 2009.

Yesterday, I spoke with Lee Roop of the Huntsville Times.  He has followed up on these matters.

Dr. Davenport has very strong qualifications and an illustrious history in more than one field.  If he is committed to serving Times2 Academy, I welcome him.

The students of Rhode Island and Alabama can learn from this experience.

  1. Kathleen Rehder Says:

But after this, how can we ever be sure he IS committed to serving Times2 Academy?

  2. Doubting Thomas Says:

After searching his history on Google I think this fraud shold be sent packing. he is a loose cannon

I met Dr. Davenport a week ago today. He was friendly. I asked him about whether he is still a candidate for the Alabama position, and his response was that he never comments on that kind of question.

He’s with us now. He has a tremendous history of raising funds wherever he goes.

  3. Astrid Held-Rude Says:

Let’s meet him tomorrow night and see what he is all about. Never more than now do we need somebody to raise funds for the school. I would hate to see classes eliminated and the kids split up into the other two because we have to let teachers go. If he really raises the money he’s been known to, even just for a couple of years, I won’t be complaining.
Now they just have to change the sibling policy so both of my kids have the same opportunity.

  4. Doubting Thomas Says:

Very odd. No one has seen the new Executive Director, Lawrence Davenport for weeks. He has vanished (not that that’s a bad thing)

Maybe he’s looking for a house in Alabama.

  5. Jeanne Says:

Is this the Larry Daven who was assistant secretary of education for Prez. Reagan. If so, he is a backstabbing, incompetent manipulator. Steer clear.

    • John Smith Says:

One and the same – worked for Reagan. Also was ED at Hale House and cleaned out their $15 million investment account in 22 months leaving the place to operate on a wing and a prayer.
